our history

Gibraltar Real Estate Capital was co-founded in 2010 by Roger Brush and Michael LaPat. Formed initially to pursue opportunistic real estate transactions coming out of the Great Financial Crisis, Gibraltar built a sizable and diverse real estate portfolio of finished and future residential lots, in addition to a number of commercial properties. As the housing market improved and then-existing lot inventories tightened, the availability of residential acquisition and development capital remained highly constrained, and Gibraltar recognized an opportunity to provide much-needed capital to homebuilders and developers.

In 2016, Gibraltar launched its capital origination platforms with the goal of offering flexible funding solutions to builders and developers. Gibraltar has become one of residential real estate's leading capital providers, led by a diverse team of industry professionals with backgrounds in homebuilding, land development, entitlements and finance.
